FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does VocaScan do?

You photograph the vocabulary page in your textbook. VocaScan detects the word pairs automatically and builds a learning project with interactive quizzes from them.

Which languages does VocaScan support?

VocaScan is not tied to one language. English, French, Italian, Spanish or Latin work just as well as other language pairs.

What does VocaScan cost?

You can try VocaScan free for 7 days. After that there is a subscription (monthly, every 6 months, or yearly) – every language and every textbook included.

Is VocaScan available for Android?

VocaScan is currently a native iOS app for iPhone. An Android version is not available yet.

How can I learn vocabulary from my textbook without copying it out by hand?

With VocaScan you just photograph the vocabulary page. The app automatically detects all word pairs with AI and immediately builds an interactive quiz. No typing, no handwritten flashcards.

Does VocaScan work with any textbook?

Yes. VocaScan doesn't depend on specific publishers or officially licensed lists. The app recognizes any printed page from a photo, whatever the textbook or publisher.

Is VocaScan better than classic flashcard apps?

VocaScan's word recognition is especially accurate. In under 60 seconds, the app turns a photo of your vocabulary page into a ready, interactive quiz, with no typing at all.

How fast does a photo become a finished quiz?

Usually under 60 seconds, from photographing the vocabulary page to a ready-to-start quiz.

What happens if the app recognizes a word incorrectly?

After scanning, VocaScan shows every detected word pair for review. You can check and correct each pair before adding it to your project.

How many scans or quizzes are free before I need a subscription?

The best way to try the full app is the free 7-day trial. For a quick test, you can also just create a project, scan one page, and play the first quiz for free. No trial needed.

Does VocaScan work offline?

Practising (quizzes and typed answers) works offline once a project has been created. Only scanning a new page needs an internet connection, since word recognition happens online.

Who is VocaScan for?

VocaScan was built mainly for students from around age 10 upwards, but it works for anyone who wants to learn vocabulary from printed text.

Is there a VocaScan option for schools or teachers?

Yes, VocaScan offers a dedicated solution for schools, with options for teachers.

Who is behind VocaScan?

VocaScan is built and run by Jérôme Sabot (Stuttgart, Germany).
